West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Central government of discriminatory practices in refunding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collected from Bengal. Despite repeated requests for the payment of the state's dues, Mamata claims that the Center has not provided any relief.
She said, “I will go to Delhi this month with some MPs of the party (Trinamool Congress) and I have sought an appointment with the Prime Minister to put pressure on the Center to pay the state's dues. Speaking to reporters at Bagdogra airport near Siliguri in North Bengal, Mamata expressed her frustration, stating that she has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi between December 18 and 20 to address the issue.
CM said the Center is collecting GST from the state, but it is not sharing that income. she said that the state is also eligible to get funds in many central schemes like MNREGA, but it is not even getting its funds. The state is being deprived of its share of financial dues from the Centre.
